The Galactic StarForce Knights have a responsibility to prevent, combat and investigate crime, maintain public order, protect and secure the inhabitants of the Republic and their property, uphold and enforce the law, create a safe and secure environment for all people in Atlas, prevent anything that may threaten the safety or security of any community, investigate any crimes that threaten the safety or security of any community, ensure criminals are brought to justice and participate in efforts to address the causes of crime.
The constitution of Atlas is the figurative body of fundamental principles or established precedents according to which Atlas is governed. In this case, the Humans have assumed control over Atlas with the Constitution of Earth, despite them being somewhat below the food-chain and not even having visited the planet in the first place. This was to ensure that crime would not run rampant over Atlas once the Humans have landed.
The Galactic StarForce Knights traces its origin to the Sol-3 Forces, a Vigilante organisation formed by Humans on Earth in 2073 A.D, initially to protect civilians against pirate attack and later to maintain law and order.
The Galactic StarForce Knights were eventually created after Settlers on Atlas discovered that the planet is in dire need of protection. Four years later, The GSFK assumed permanent responsibility for domestic law and order. Cities of Atlas often called on The GSFK for support in emergencies.
The current ranking system of The GSFK was adopted shortly after establishment. The new rank system mirrors the system used by the Sol-3 Forces during the Pre-Atlas era.
