It would indeed be a first, but the uses would be incredible.

Servers could download a great many mods that are incompatible with each other together, but fine running alone. Thus allowing for constantly changing gameplay and mechanics, it could be great fun for many.

Heres a couple ideas I did not see anywhere.

-Melee. Dont think I saw this, but enough said if it isnt already mentioned.

-Automatic tunnels. You know those Tok'ra tunnel crystals from Stargate? Yes, I am talking about that. For those that do not know, they would basically stick one of these crystals in the ground and a tunnel would sort of "grow". You would have a couple different types: straight, curved and/or corner, up ramp, down ramp, and mabe rooms. This would make for alot less chaotic tunneling. Figure out the cost at some point.

-Tunnel fortification. Perhaps this is overkill since if you use the above idea, it would be simple to manually coat the tunnel with blocks as it would have flat sides. However, this would be more of an automatically applied coating.

-Texture replacers. The ability to simply drop in textures to the install folder and have them replace textures used in game. This would only effect the person using the replacers. You might be worried about someone then taking an alpha texture and applying it to the blocks so they can see past them easily but there is a very easy way to stop this: Just have the engine render the alpha layer as black for any specified textures or surfaces. You also wouldnt even need to have the original textures available, just specify a list of what can be replaced, what it goes with, and what size the textures can be; you then just provide the folder where the textures would go.

-Community block making. Allow the community to come up with its own tilesets. This early on, it would be great if you held a contest for best tilesets created. This would allow more community involvement and a greater variety of choices, among other things I doubt I need to say. At the end, you could pick the best ones(you could have some testers to make sure things are fine and then have the lead guys choose several people could vote on, etc, something like that) and use them in the game.(obviously you would need guidelines here and approval for entries as you can not have messed up meshes getting out, it just makes things look bad and can in some cases cause crashing(I happen to be the lead model guy for the Morrowind mod Province: Cyrodiil)) Further, this could be more of a part of future modding where people can add their own tilesets for personal use(as in they wouldnt show up on the multiplayer servers etc)

My ideas have been Compendium'd :o

About the tilesprite entity/hook. Since blocks were referred to as tiles and sprites is a fitting entity name, I sort of combined the two words together as an attempt at being clever, but I guess it stuck regardless. I even put in quite a few disclaimers regarding the naming sense as well...

Looking at medieval battles, Lancers were used at the front of an army to kill the charging horses.
If the leeches are to stay at that speed, an optional lance melee weapon would be good, a 'Perfect timing' 1 hit kill could also arise from this.
It could double as a tileset too for those make a strong first defense or maybe a pit of death :P

i think a harpoon type weapon would be epic. imagine a persons vehicle drives past your base unexpectedly and about 15 harpoons shoot out and slowly start dragging your victim to your nightmarish traps.. or even a personal one that can stick to a person. unlike a grappling hook to bring you to an object have the object come to you. but still keep the grappling hook cause its highly needed for non lethal things.
