First thing: I know that there is already a thread about such, i just wanted my own!

So, since i believe vehicles will be craftable, so my idea is that you could craft this Walker, Mech, Tank turret on legs :lol: after obtaining the blueprints for it.
It would take a f*ckton (or a sh*tload, depends on your preferences :D) of resources to make. When first crafted it would have NO WEAPON. It wouldn't be as fast as the wheeled vehicles (maybe up to 70kph?) but it would have faster acceleration and wouldn't lose as much speed on inclines, but wouldn't gain speed while going downhill.
It would be upgradable and customizable. Since when you first craft it, it doesn't have a weapon, so you can upgrade it with one of the four weapons i drew: 8-)
1. "Low" caliber machine gun.
++++ Range.
+++_ Rate of fire.
+++_ Damage vs Creatures.
++__ Damage vs Buildings.
2. Flamethrower.
+___ Range.
++++ Rate of fire.
++++ Damage vs Creatures.
++++ Damage vs Buildings (only wooden).
3. (Not so) Minigun.
++__ Range.
++++ Rate of fire.
+++_ Damage vs Creatures.
++__ Damage vs Buildings.
4. Large bore Cannon.
++++ Range.
____ Rate of fire (It's one shot, reload, what did you expect? :lol:)
+++_ Damage vs Creatures.
++++ Damage vs Buildings.
(More stars the better)
Instead of adding a gun on your walker, the player could use the resources to increase the power of the engine (but then he won't be able to fit a gun on the walker, because it wouldn't fit inside due to having a huge engine)
Increasing the engine's power would give the ability to "sprint" for limited amounts of time increasing the maximum speed of the walker two times.

:)

A less combat oriented walker. When first crafted it's equipped with a basic mining drill. Which later can be upgraded into:
1. Advanced mining drill (Very short range, but extremely fast and produces little heat.)
2. Mining Laser (Longer range than the drill, but works slower(the speed at which it destroys obstacles is related to the distance) and produces extra heat.)
3. Lumber Saw (Sacrifice digging capability for extremely fast tree cutting ability, very low heat generation when compared to the mining equipment.)
In my idea, the drilling equipment if used boldly and rushing has a chance of overheating and even breaking (so the player should take breaks between drilling sessions.)

Edit: My OCD got the better of me and made me alter the "Combat oriented" walker's pic a little. (Added a spotlight for night time operations, slightly remade the "Torso" and removed the derpy looking antenna)

Update:
Image
A quadrupedal walker (My favorite :lol: ) When first crafted has no weapon equipped (like the chicken walker). It can be upgraded with:
1. Mining Laser (The same as the one on the Second walker, even though it's a mining tool, it's just as effective at..ehm "mining" infantry).
2. Napalm Launcher (Shoots blobs of flaming liquid in an arc and cover large amount of ground in a fiery inferno :twisted:, also capable of indirect fire i.e. shooting from behind cover).
++__ Range.
+++_ Rate of Fire.
++++ Damage vs Creatures.
++++ Damage vs Buildings (only wooden).
3. Missile pod XL (Shoots either a huge volley of missiles (18 at the time) or can be chainfired for longer duration (1 missile at the time, also able to use different kinds of ammunition: HE missiles, Incendiary missiles and guided).
++++ Range.
+++_ Rate of Fire.
++++ Damage vs Creatures.
++++ Damage vs Buildings (effective vs all kinds of structures).
4. Quadbarreled Flak gun. (Rapid fire Anti-air gun, best used against flying vehicles, but is just as useful at dismembering organic targets).
++++ Range
++++ Rate of Fire
+++_ Damage vs Creatures.
+___ Damage vs Buildings
5. Lightning gun (Shoots lightning bolts all over the place, If struck a wooden structure sets it on fire and if struck a metal, damages anything in contact with the structure)
++__ Range.
++++ Rate of Fire.
++++ Damage vs Creatures.
++++ Damage vs Buildings (only wooden).

Hmmm, I like this design...

Due to the fact that they are hard to code though, I don't think Walkers will be added for quite some time. Then again, that is coming from a guy who has never coded in his life...sooooo.

I think The Mech thing could be coded the same way the players are. The chance for the walker to trip over and fall flat on its face could make a nice disadvantage and make wheeled/threaded vehicles better for rough terrain or something.

I beg to differ that they are hard to code without even begging. A walker is exactly like a person except it looks different.

I prever quad-walkers myself. Easier to strafe and more stable.

If they make it so that the grapple gun can conceivably tangle their legs and trip them up, I'm sold. It'll add an interesting element to combat in multiplayer.

yeah, i prefer this thread to the other one. this one is alot better thought out. but the other thread also has ideas about having mechwalkers with versatile arms and other, less violent applications. so while i like the idea of chickenwalkers i also think that arms are a pretty big necessity

Hmmm, maybe different walkers for different purposes? I'll try sketching one later today... I like drawing late at night personally

alright, have fun with that, damn i really wish i had some way to scan in one of my drawings, i sketched a fantastic walker and i think it would really work well for this purpose. oh well.

No need to scan, just take a photo :D
The design itself matters not the quality of the picture :)
